Why I built the Vault

A few years ago someone sat down with me after school, for nothing, and helped me turn a mediocre text response into the kind of essay that ends up in a raw 50. I didn't pay for it. I don't think I could have.

That's the whole reason the Vault exists. Not every student in Victoria has a tutor, a teacher with spare time, or a parent who did English at uni. Most of what actually moves a mark — a sharp thesis, a textual evidence bank, knowing what a marker is scanning for — isn't secret. It's just unevenly distributed.

So the guides are free, the model answers are free, and the community is free. Tutoring sits at the very end, for the small number of people who want more than a website can give them. It was never the point of building this.
